Peter Capaldi revived foul-mouthed character Malcolm Tucker during a recent chat show appearance.

The actor, who portrayed the beloved comedy creation across four series of political British sitcom The Thick of It, was on Australian show The Project when the hosts asked him what advice the spin-doctor would have given politician Kelly O'Dwyer ahead of a car-crash interview she'd given earlier that day.

“I think he would have said she was as useless as a marzipan dildo,“ Capaldi said, assuming the role of Tucker to laughter from the crowd.

“We’re looking at a total omnishambles there," he added, referencing a term from the series. "She was all over the place like a mad woman’s shit. And I’m only getting started.”

You can watch the full exchange above.

The Thick of It was created by Armando Iannucci and ran from 2005 to 2012. Capaldi, who recently stepped down from lead duties of BBC series Doctor Who, starred in the sitcom alongside Joanna Scanlon, Chris Addison, James Smith and Rebecca Front.

He also played the role in big-screen spinoff In the Loop which was released in 2009.

Last time Tucker reared his head was in an edition of The Big Issue - guest-edited by Iannucci - in which he shared his candid views on Brexit.
