From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Peter Capaldi has been asked to stay on for Doctor Who's series 11. Only asked at this moment; meaning they've not reached the clinging onto his trouser hems and crying into his socks stage of negotiations. Yet.
This follows the news showrunner Steven Moffat will be departing the show in 2018, to be replaced by Chris Chibnall; rumours naturally started to surface Capaldi would follow Moffat, especially after he hinted at a departure after this year.
Capaldi told Edi Stark on BBC Radio Scotland's Janice Forsyth Show (via Digital Spy), that he has been asked back for the show's 11th series, though; "I haven't made my mind up."
"I've been asked to stay on, which is lovely - and I think Chris Chibnall's fantastic and a wonderful choice," he continued. "To be perfectly honest, it's so far away in the future... you know, Doctor Who is a very difficult thing to say goodbye to - and I don't want to make that decision right now."
"They've asked me to stay on, so when I am forced to make that decision, I will make it." Sounds exactly how the rest of the world makes any major decision.
Capaldi is still on board for the Doctor Who Christmas 2016 special, followed by a full series in 2017.
