Outkast rapper Big Boi is reported to have signed to six figure deal to appear on Celebrity Big Brother in the UK.

Big Boi, real name Antwan Patton, has reportedly agreed to a $450,000 (£300,000) deal with Channel 5 bosses to join this year’s series.

The Sun reports producers are allegedly hoping to bring in at least one American star to the Big Brother house.

US musicians Sisqo and Coolio have previously appeared on the show, with Coolio finishing in third place in 2009.

Big Boi fans responded with disappointment to the news on Twitter.

One user tweeted: “Why is Big Boi doing Celebrity Big Brother? Ridiculous. He should be working on another album,” while another said: “If Big Boi does Celeb Big Brother UK I have officially lost respect for him!”

Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristinia Brown was recently linked to this year’s Big Brother, along with 5ive singer Abz Love and model Sophie Anderton.

Football manager Ron Atkinson, Loose Women star Carol McGiffin and Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby have reportedly signed up to the show.

Channel 5 declined to comment on speculation surrounding Big Boi's entry into the Big Brother house.

Celebrity Big Brother returns to Channel 5 for its 12th series later this month.
