From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Only Fools and Horses star Nicholas Lyndhurst has ruled out a TV revival of the classic BBC sitcom.

The actor, who played Rodney Trotter, said a reunion would be impossible without the input of writer John Sullivan, who died in 2011.

He told The Mirror: “We can’t do any more. John was the driving force. We’ve also lost quite a few of the cast members now, [so] I don’t think I could do it... I certainly couldn’t do it without John.”

“We can’t. At the risk of depressing everyone, I think the last two times I’ve seen David [were] at funerals,” he added, referring to co-star David Jason, who played Del Boy.

“We did make a pact to get out for a drink at some stage without planting somebody. We are still close.”

Roger Lloyd-Pack, who played Trigger, and Roy Heather, who played cafe owner Sid, both died in 2014.

Lennard Pearce, who played Grandad, died in 1984, while Buster Merryfield, who played Uncle Albert, died in 1999 and Kenneth MacDonald, who played Mike Fisher, died in 2001.

The series originally ran from 1981 to 1991, with sixteen sporadic Christmas specials being aired until 2003. It followed Del Boy, his brother Rodney, and their Uncle Albert’s many schemes to get rich quick.

An Only Fools and Horses musical debuted earlier this month at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket.
