From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. We all know super-fans can be a little crazy, but one fan of the Walking Dead may have gone a little too far.

While attending the Walker Stalker Convention in New York, one overeager fan seized the moment and bit actor Norman Reedus.

According to reports, the female fan was in line for a photo opportunity with Reedus and fellow cast member Michael Rooker.

When it was her turn, she first told the Daryl Dixon actor that she “likes to pretend that they’re married” before subsequently biting the Walking Dead star and being removed from the convention.

Um please don't

Rooker was so surprised he apparently exclaimed “What the f**k was that?” before returning to business as usual.

Reedus has since responded by posting a photo of himself on his Instagram account with the words “Do not bite me” written on his chest.

A fan favourite, Dixon’s sexuality has been the cause of much debate recently.

Creator Robert Kirkman cleared matters up though, telling sister show Talking Dead:

"Daryl Dixon is being somewhat asexual on the show.

"I think that he's a very introverted character and I think that's somewhat his appeal.

“I do have to clear something up, though. In the Walking Dead letters column in the old comic book that I do, there was a question that made me mention that there was a possibility early on about making Daryl Dixon's character gay and it caused quite a hubbub online."

"I just wanted to make it clear that I was saying that the possibility is there and I would've been fine with it, the network would have been fine with it, but we ultimately didn't do that. I can make it official – Daryl Dixon is actually straight."

It has not been confirmed whether he has been turned into Walker or not. The woman in question has been banned from Walker Stalker Con and lost both the remaining photo opportunities she had booked.

In other Walking Dead news, there has been some resolution of whether Glenn is alive or not which you can read here but beware of spoilers.
