Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Fans of ‘Netflix and Chill’ can now take their favourite hobby one step further by booking into a New York apartment themed around the meme.

The one-bed flat has been listed on Airbnb for £288 a night and comes with a “fully stacked mini-bar” complete with champagne and beer, Netflix bedding, an HD projector hooked up to an Apple TV and Netflix account, surround sound and stairs leading up to a roof terrace.

Friends Tom Galle, Moises Sanabria and Alyssa Davis came up with the genius idea and shared it with the world on Wednesday. They already have one guest booked in for February.

“They experience something different than just going to a hotel,” Galle, a 31-year-old advertising professional, told NME. “It’s bringing a part of the internet to a real life experience. You don’t have to sleep with a girl or a guy there, we’re just bringing the joke to real life.”

The room will remain rentable on Saturdays for at least a couple of months.

One thing to bear in mind: threesomes are absolutely not permitted. “We can’t allow you to have additional guests and that is a serious request,” the house rules read.
