Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Good Cop star Warren Brown is coming back to the BBC to play another edgy police officer who takes the law into his own hands.
The actor will play detective Jack Quinn and is teaming up with Mistresses star Shelley Conn and Gina McKee in By Any Means - a new drama about a team of clandestine officers who do not always stick to the letter of the law.
Brown said: "I'm thrilled and excited to be working on By Any Means. I loved Jack Quinn from the moment I read the script - he's a great character full of contradictions which I'm looking forward to bringing to life."
Brown starred as police officer John Paul Rocksavage in the violent crime thriller Good Cop - which was rescheduled following the deaths of two women police officers in Manchester after it featured a violent attack on a female officer.
By Any Means is created by a team of writers led by Tony Jordan who learned his trade on EastEnders before working on shows including Hustle and Life On Mars.
Belinda Campbell, from Red Planet Pictures which is producing the show, said it was "a gripping and edgy drama".
She said: "We're delighted to have such a strong line-up of talent both on and off screen to translate these intricate plots and characters. With the action taking place on the cusp of the law, it provides the perfect premise for dramatic scenes, surprise twists and turns in the plot, as well as brilliantly complex and rich characters."
