From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Netflix has released a trailer for the series finale of Sense8 designed to wrap up the series following its cancellation in 2017.

The series from the Wachowskis, the filmmaking duo behind The Matrix, follows a cluster of eight 'sensates', strangers from across the globe who have been linked mentally and emotionally to one another since birth.

This final episode will see this cluster work together “to protect the future of sensates.”

Its ensemble includes Max Riemelt, Toby Onwumere, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Jamie Clayton, Tina Desai, Tuppence Middleton, Doona Bae, and Brian J. Smith all appear as well as Lost star Naveen Andrews.

Following the streaming service's announcement that season two of the Wachowskis' sci-fi drama was to be the last, viewers expressed their upset via Twitter championing a #RenewSense8 campaign which prompted Netflix to reconsider its decision. It later announced a two-hour finale.

The series scored positive reviews from critics who praised the show's inclusion of characters from various cultures (Mumbai, Seoul, Berlin, San Francisco and London all feature prominently as locations) as well as LGBTQ themes led by gay character Lito Rodriguez (Silvestre) and Nomi Marks who is played by transgender star Clayton.

Sense8's series finale will come to Netflix on 8 June.
