From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Netflix has revealed its most binge-watched shows of the year, with a mix of true crime and teen dramas at the top of the list.

On My Block, a coming-of-age Netflix original about a group of teenagers living in a "rough" neighbourhood of Los Angeles, had the highest watched time per viewing session based on US data, according to the streamer.

It is followed by Making a Murderer: Part Two, the second instalment of the true crime show documenting the case in which Steven Avery was convicted of murder.

In third position is the second season of 13 Reasons Why, the teen drama based on Jay Asher's Young Adult novel of the same name.

Almost half of viewers re-watched those two movies, according to the streamer, citing global viewing data.

Roxanne Roxanne, another Netflix original, came in third position.

Netflix warned that both rankings do not reflect overall popularity of the films and TV shows. Instead, they reflect subscribers' viewing habits.

Over the past 12 months, several Netflix celebrities gained new fans on social media.

The platform compiled the Instagram growth for talent who appeared in a Netflix film or series in 2018 and revealed that Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown, and Bobby Berk, the five experts on Queer Eye, have experienced the most progress.
