Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.April looks to be a slow burn for Netflix with a string of below-the-radar releases that look set to gather steam as the months roll on.
The big new TV show is Lost in Space, a reboot of the classic '60s series following the adventures of a family of pioneering space colonists whose spaceship veers off-course. Starring Toby Stephens, Molly Parker and Parker Posey, the series promises to be a humorous slice of escapism with several episodes directed by Neil Marshall, the man behind beloved Game of Thrones episode 'Blackwater.'
Then there's The Alienist, the brand new period crime series from Cary Joji Fukunaga that could well be a 19th-century version of True Detective. Starring Daniel Brühl, Luke Evans and Dakota Fanning, episodes follow a criminal psychologist who joins forces with a journalist and a police detective to investigate the serial murders of young boys in the 1890s. The ten-episode season - based on Caleb Carr's novels - has been winning positive reviews since its debut in the US in January.
Jay-Z follows the likes of Barack Obama and George Clooney to appear on David Letterman's talk show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
Film-wise, Netflix has 11 new releases including new drama Come Sunday, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, and latest Adam Sandler release, The Week Of as well as previously-released titles including American Psycho, Kubrick classic Dr. Strangelove, Joe Wright gem Hanna and fratboy drama Goat.
You can find a full list of everything being released on Netflix UK below.
