Rivera is feared to have drowned after renting a pontoon boat with her son Josey Hollis on Wednesday (8 July) and failing to return to shore. Hollis, four, was reportedly found alone and asleep in the boat.
Police have now released surveillance footage showing the 33-year-old actor arriving at Lake Piru in California in her black car, before taking her son from the back seat and walking to the pontoon.
In a later clip, the boat is seen leaving the dock and heading out on to the lake.
On Friday morning (10 July), officials said that there was “little to no evidence” that Rivera had made it back to shore, with the operation moving from rescue to “search and recovery” as the actor was presumed dead.
A Ventura County Sheriff spokesman said that it may be some time before any body is found, adding: “If the body is entangled on something beneath the water, it may never come back up.
“There’s no way to really say. We’re putting our best foot forward to try and locate her, we’re using all the assets that are available to us including technology like sonar.”
Water and air searches continued until Thursday evening with a 100-person crew.
Rivera was best known for playing Santana Lopez on musical comedy Glee from 2009 to 2015. Her co-stars, including Demi Lovato and Heather Morris, have urged fans to pray for the actor.
