From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Waller-Bridge's dark comedy, which has enjoyed huge success at the Emmys, Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Awards, was overlooked at the NTAs in favour of Brendan O'Carroll's lewd Saturday night sitcom.
Mrs Brown's Boys also won over Ricky Gervais's hit Netflix comedy After Life, which received acclaim from a number of critics. It has since been renewed by the streaming service for a second series.
While O'Carroll made sure to praise Gervais's show as "one of the best things I've ever seen" as he collected his award, fans on Twitter remained outraged by the win.
"Mrs Brown's Boys beating Derry Girls and Fleabag at the National Television Awards is yet another example of why the British public shouldn't be allowed to vote for things," one person tweeted.
Another wrote: "Mrs Brown's Boys just beat Afterlife and Fleabag to win Best Comedy at the National Television Awards if you're still wondering how Brexit came to pass."
"Zero faith in humanity," someone wrote, while another said: "We aren't a nation of shopkeepers, we are a nation of idiots."
Unlike other awards ceremonies, the NTAs are voted for by the British public. Other winners on the night included Jesy Nelson, who won Best Factual Programme for her cyber-bullying documentary Odd One Out, and Peaky Blinders, which won Best Drama.
