From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were left in stitches onThis Morning as Miriam Margolyes revealed that she had made multiple “sex tapes”.

The Harry Potter actor appeared on the ITV show from her home in Italy on Thursday (25 March), during which Schofield raised the subject of one of her “less family-orientated” projects.

“I thought I was supposed to be very careful this morning on this show,” she responded. “Your chap told me, ‘now don’t say anything nasty.’”

“You never say anything nasty but you’re always naughty and we love that,” the presenter replied.

“Well, I did a couple of sex tapes. ‘Sexy Sonia: Leaves from My Schoolgirl Diary’, that was one of them,” Margolyes explained, with both Schofield and Willoughby cracking up laughing.

Insisting that the recordings were purely audio rather than visual, Margolyes continued: “They’re very exhausting because when you’re simulating orgasm, as all of you out there will know, it’s tiring and you get a headache.

“It’s not a question of having a headache at the beginning, you get a headache at the end.”

In recent years, the 79-year-old actor has become a mainstay on daytime TV for her hilarious and frank comments.

In January, Margolyes told Good Morning Britain that Boris Johnson was a “clown”, leading viewers to hail her as a “national treasure”.
