Miranda Hart to make new Saturday night TV show inspired by The Generation Game

The actress is reported to be working on a pilot for an entertainment show that is said to have “elements” of The Generation Game.
While she seems an unlikely contender to take the reins from Jim Davidson, the BBC has said the new show will not be a reboot of the hit Saturday night show.
A senior BBC source told RadioTimes.com: “The point of the pilot is to see how it works in the studio. It is a modern show which at the moment has elements of The Generation Game but isn’t that show. It is a modern reinvention of it and is still in development so it could all change.”
The pilot, which will not be shown on TV, is reportedly being made by independent production company King Bert Productions, which was set up by Hart and actor and writer David Walliams.
King Bert was behind a casting advert for a show that asked “for families of all ages and generations to come to the studio for the chance to win some prizes”.
The move comes at a good time for the comedienne, who confirmed her popular sitcom Miranda is set to end after two Christmas specials later this month.
Last month she said she felt she had grown out of the sitcom, and was a “little embarrassed” by her alter-ego.
A BBC spokeswoman said of the new pilot: “Miranda is recording this non-broadcast entertainment show for BBC1. It is still work in progress and as yet is untitled, we are still in development with the idea.”
