Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Hosted by the former First Lady, The Michelle Obama Podcast debuts on the music streaming service on 29 July.
The first season will feature guests including Obama's mother and brother, Conan O’Brien, Valerie Jarrett and Michele Norris.
The podcast is produced in collaboration with the Obama family’s production company Higher Ground, having signed a deal with Spotify in 2019 to “develop, produce and lend their voices” to shows for the platform.
The show will be exclusively available on Spotify, with Joe Rogan and Kim Kardashian West having also recently signed similar deals with the network.
Speaking about the podcast, Obama said: “My hope is that this series can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and sort through so many of the questions we’re all trying to answer in our own lives.
“Perhaps most of all, I hope this podcast will help listeners open up new conversations – and hard conversations – with the people who matter most to them. That’s how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another.”
