From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Maya Rudolph was the host on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, where she broke out her famous Beyoncé parody.

Only this time, the former SNL cast member played Queen Bey in an unlikely position: as the guest on Hot Ones, where celebrities are interviewed while they eat increasingly spicy hot sauce-covered chicken wings.

“I cannot believe you're on Hot Ones,” Mikey Day, playing Sean Evans, said.

“I feel you... I still can't tell if this is beneath me,” Rudolph as Beyoncé responded.

Appearing to keep her cool while Day asked questions about whether or not Destiny’s Child would ever reunite (a subject he couldn’t seem to get away from), Rudolph kept eating chicken wings (”C'mon now, I'm from Texas, baby. This girl can handle her wings”).

Sweat begins to pour down her face and she begs her assistant to take her wig off and place six ice cubes on her head.

“Beyoncé’s head is wet,” Rudolph gasp. “I need to hydrate... This isn't helping,” she said after chugging some water. “Water makes it worse!”

Becoming increasingly upset, she turns on Day, yelling, “You bald b****!!”.

Rudolph, who was a cast member on SNL from 2000 to 2007, has continued appearing on the show for guest appearances since then.

Recently, she has earned praise for her portrayal of Vice President Kamala Harris on the sketch show.
