Your support makes all the difference. The Masked Singer has bid farewell to its third celebrity on tonight’s episode (9 January).
The hugely popular ITV series sees stars dress up as different personas in wacky costumes and perform cover songs to a live audience and a panel of judges. It is then up to the viewers and panel to decipher their identities using a series of clues.
Tonight’s episode saw Badger, Robin, Sausage, Dragon and Swan perform.
After Sausage and Swan received the least number of votes from fans, the two mystery stars went head-to-head to decide who would remain in the programme and who would be booted off.
Following Swan’s loss, judges were shocked to learn that the celebrity behind the feathers was Martine McCutcheon.
Before exiting the show, McCutcheon – best known for her role as Natalie in Love Actually – proceeded to give one final performance, singing Alannah Myles’s hit song “Black Velvet”.
The big reveal confirmed judge Jonathan Ross’s suspicions after the presenter had put forward McCutcheon’s name as his final guess prior to the unmasking.
The other judges on the panel had different ideas. Mo Gilligan proposed that the Swan could be former Pussycat Dolls member Ashley Roberts, while Davina McCall put forward another member of the same band, Kimberly Wyatt, as her guess.
Rita Ora took her chances with her prediction of Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel, who is behind the hit song “Let It Go” from the Disney movie Frozen.
The Swan’s unmasking follows last week’s episode during which Seahorse was unveiled to be Spice Girls icon Mel B.
Alien was the first persona to be exposed as “Murder on the Dance Floor” singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
The Masked Singer returns to ITV next Saturday at 7.00pm.
