From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Back to the Future and Forrest Gump filmmaker Robert Zemeckis is behind the new show, titled Manifest, adding it to his ever-growing list of projects that feature incidents involving planes (see: Cast Away and Flight).
Manifest tells the high-concept story of a plane that goes missing mid-flight only for it to later reappear five years later. For the 191 passengers, though, it’s like no time has passed – but for the rest of the world, including their loved ones, a lot has changed.
Written by Jeff Rake, the series will track the effect such an event has on the passengers’ families who go years assuming all on board died as well as focusing on the mystery itself.
Going by the trailer, it seems as if Manifest will be a blend of both Lost and teen series The OC – but audiences clearly lapped it up.; the show was renewed for a second season earlier this year.
Manifest stars Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas and Athena Karkanis.
Recently, ABC President Channing Dungey admitted admitted that Lost was on a list of potential titles to revive someday in the future.
Manifest begins on Sky One tonight at 9pm
