The news broke on Thursday, with the showrunners saying they were “incredibly grateful” to be able to give the series a final instalment.
Lucifer, based on the DC Comics character Lucifer Samael Morningstar, originally premiered on Fox in 2016.
The series moved to Netflix after three seasons.
Its fourth series, which aired in May this year, ran for 10 episodes – shorter than its previous instalments, which were made up of 13, 18 and 26 episodes respectively.
“We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms,” executive producers and showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!”
Lucifer stars Tom Ellis as the title character, who, tired of his position as the ruler of hell, starts running a nightclub in Los Angeles and consulting for the LAPD.
The cast also includes Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro and DB Woodside.
