From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Netflix has announced a new original TV show called Love, an "excruciatingly honest" look at modern relationships co-created by Judd Apatow, Paul Rust and Lesley Arfin.
The show may prove to be a not particularly 'romantic' comedy, given the bleakness of Apatow's recent relationship-based movie This Is 40 and the fresh take on intimacy he helped Lena Dunham hone in Girls.
Love follows Gus (Paul Rust from I Love You, Inglourious Basterds) and Mickey (Gillian Jacobs from Community) "as they navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, and other things they were hoping to avoid."
As is the bold, chest-beating Netflix way, the streaming service has already made a two season commitment to Love, with the first 10 episodes to debut in 2016 and another 12 coming the following year.
"I am so excited to get to work with Paul and Lesley on this project," said Apatow, echoing the sentiments of many shorwrunners who have worked with the company as he added: "Netflix has been supportive in ways I couldn’t create in my wildest fever dreams."
"Judd Apatow has a unique comic voice that manages to be delightful, insightful, and shockingly frank – often at the same time," said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. "Together with Paul and Lesley, he’s bringing a whole new level of agony and ecstasy to this modern day comedy of manners."
