From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Love Island final is right around the corner, with Molly-Mae Hague and Thomas Fury still odds-on favourites to take home the £50,000 prize. But it doesn’t mean that the island’s couples are set in stone in advance of next Monday’s series closer, with the first glimpse at tonight’s episode setting up yet another potential romance-destroying feud.

In the clip provided by ITV2, the romantic tension between Jordan Hames and newcomer India Reynolds sparks outrage in Jordan’s girlfriend Anna Vakili. Over a pair of ice lollies, the “official” item confront the elephant in the room.

“I just wanna have fun with you,” Jordan tells Anna. “And I feel like maybe we lost that a little bit.” In response, Anna fires back: “The first hurdle we’ve come to because we’re not having much fun together – and you avoid me?”

Later on, Maura Higgins naturally throws a cat among the pigeons by letting Anna know that Jordan has been expressing interest in India, leading Anna to immediately confront her love interest in front of the rest of the Islanders.

“Do you like her?” Anna asks. “Yes or no? … You just asked me out and you like her? Is that how much of a f***ing idiot you are?”

“I’m having a conversation,” Jordan explains, his excuse appearing to fall on deaf ears.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
