From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Love Island has come to an end, the UK public crowning Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham the winning couple.

One of the many people celebrating the victory was Dani's famous father and mother, Danny Dyer and Joanne Mas, who posted a jubilant video to Instagram live.

"Dan, you have done it," the pair said, who are currently holidaying in the US. "We cannot wait, we are coming to see you."

Danny Dayer had posted another video earlier in the day, telling his daughter: "Babe, you have won already."

The Eastenders actor had previously appeared on Love Island through a Skype phone-call, calling Jack "absolutely bang on" and a "proper geezer."

Dani and Jack had long been the bookies favourites to take home the £50,000 prize money, easily beating Laura Anderson and Paul Knops during the final.

Kazimir Crossley and Josh Denzel had finished third with Megan Barton Hanson and Wes Nelson finishing in fourth place. Catch up on everything that happened in the episode here.
