From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

BBC Breakfast presenter Susanna Reid has confirmed she will be appearing as a contestant on this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

The Strictly Come Dancing Twitter account confirmed the news, tweeting: “BREAKING NEWS: @susannareid100 joins Strictly: Let’s get Reid-y to Rumba.”

The 42-year-old responded by posting a photo of herself dressed up for the show (below). She tweeted: “I’m sequined-up and making a visit to Planet Strictly #scd2013.”

Reid told BBC Breakfast she was “really excited” about taking part in the ‘Strictly experience,’ but was worried about the competition from other celebrities, saying they “already looked like pros”.

The presenter said she was already feeling the strain of training and was “aching in places I’ve never ached before”.

Riley is the fifth celebrity confirmed for this year’s show, including Countdown star Rachel Reid, TV presenter Abbey Clancy, golfer Tony Jacklin and radio presenter Vanessa Feltz.

The Sun has reported the full line-up, which is due to be announced at an official Strictly press conference tomorrow.

The full line-up is reported to include fashion designer Julien Macdonald, Hollyoaks actress Ashley Taylor Dawson, Casulty’s Patrick Robinson and actress Fiona Fullerton.

Singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, rugby player Ben Cohen and Coronation Street's Natalie Gumede are also rumoured to appear on the show.
