Perez Hilton has been criticised over a video where he reacted to reports that Kylie Jenner is expecting a child with her boyfriend, rapper Travis Scott.

The controversial US blogger, 39, shared a YouTube video to his followers, which began with him yelling "ring the alarm" and ringing a bell outside.

He went onto say that he "needed" to get on YouTube to say the 20-year-old was "99 per cent pregnant". The missing 1 per cent was attributed to the news being a report by TMZ and "they could be wrong", Hilton said. "Although their track record is pretty accurate."

He then said that although he "loves life" and "loves babies"... "If I was Kris [Jenner - Kylie's mother] I'd tell that girl to get an abortion" and suggested that a pregnancy would be "good for business".

"Let's be really real here, people," he continued. "Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott are not gonna last - they're not gonna end up happily ever after.

"You know the Kardashian show is about to end, so Kylie just wants to get a role on Teen Mom... this is when pro-choice really comes in handy.

"... It's just sad because I don't want to project too much on Kylie but based on everything I know I don't think she's going to be a great mum.

"My heart goes out to that poor unborn child. But from a business point of view this is great for business. It's all sorts of crazy."

Hilton's comments received a huge backlash, with much of the criticism aimed at the blogger's assumption that Jenner was not fit to be a mother.

One follower wrote: "Who are you to say she won't be a great mum... Kylie has money, an amazing career and a huge family that will no doubt help her out. Kim and Kourtney [Kylie's sisters] are great mums."

Another tweeted: "Thank god we have Perez Hilton to determine who and who shouldn't be allowed to be mothers based on his analysis of their maternal skills."

Others called him a hypocrite for being "pro-choice" yet telling a woman what she should do with her body, and pointed out that as a single father Hilton had no place questioning how Jenner could be a successful mother if her relationship did not last.

Hilton later defended his comments in a second video where he said: "What I meant to say if I didn't say it accurately is that, if I were her mother, I would've told Kylie Jenner to get an abortion when they found out in July," he said.

"I'm not saying get an abortion now... I would never say that to her. I'm not her dad or her mom, but if I were, that's what I would have said. And I would say the same thing to my daughter if she were to get pregnant under similar circumstances: her age, not a stable relationship, her just being totally unfit to be pregnant, in my opinion."

So far Jenner and the Kardashian family have not confirmed reports that she is expecting a child.
