From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Kim Kardashian has revealed she won't rule out running for office someday.

In an interview with CNN's The Van Jones Show on Saturday, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star addressed the possibility, but remained reticent about whether she could see herself as president one day.

"I don't really think that's even on my mind," Kardashian said.

But when Van Jones brought up Donald Trump's journey from celebrity to president as a catalyst for more celebrities to consider a run for office, Kardashian said, "I know, that's why Kanye [West] loves him."

"It's the idea that anything could happen," she continued.

Despite telling Jones that the idea of running for office isn't on her mind, she did say, "never say never."

However, Kardashian wanted to make it clear that her statement wasn't confirmation that she'd actually run for office.

"That’s not what I’m going for," she said. "I just want to help, starting with one person at a time. I think sometimes if more people would just put their personal feelings aside and talk about really important issues that have to be discussed, then so much more can get done."

The conversation surrounding Kardashian and the possibility of a political future comes after the 37-year-old mogul helped Alice Johnson get a presidential pardon earlier this month after being imprisoned for 21 years.

After learning about Johnson's case, Kardashian campaigned for her online, eventually meeting with Trump on June 6 at the White House to discuss a presidential pardon.

That day, the 63-year-old grandmother was pardoned and released from a federal prison in Aliceville, Alabama where she had spent over two decades.

Johnson had received a life sentence for a first-time nonviolent drug offence after assisting communications in a drug-trafficking case.
