A man has said he was left traumatised after waking up to find Kevin Spacey lying on him in the 1980s.

After meeting at a summer theatre, the Broadway actor invited him when he was a teenager to spend the weekend in New York, the man said.

On the first night, Mr Spacey talked a lot about his work and became affectionate “in a way I certainly wasn’t interested in”, the man told the BBC.

The man, identified as John, which is not his real name, said Mr Spacey asked him to share his bed. But instead John chose to sleep on the sofa.

“It was an icy ‘goodnight’ with the lights off. I thought I was going to be kicked out in the morning,” he said.

“As we went to sleep, he was sobbing from his bed,” John said.

But John still woke up with the actor’s arms around him, the man alleges, although he added that he didn’t think anything sexual took place.

“I was uncomfortable at best, traumatised at worst,” the man said. “He was either very stupid or predatory – or maybe a little of both.”

After a second day touring New York, Mr Spacey once again became affectionate when they got back to the apartment, telling the man he felt “misunderstood”, John said.

“I burst into tears because I couldn’t articulate any more what was happening to me. I was scared,” John said.

“To his credit, he backed off and we went to sleep,” he added.

Mr Spacey’s publicist did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The latest allegation follows Mr Spacey’s apology after US actor Anthony Rapp accused the House of Cards star of making sexual advances toward him when he was 14. Mr Spacey said he was “beyond horrified” to hear the story but does not remember the incident.

But the drama that has usually surrounded Mr Spacey’s performances on-screen continues to escalate off of it.

Other men have also come forward to accuse Mr Spacey of sexual harassment. US filmmaker Tony Montana said he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder for six months after Mr Spacey allegedly grabbed his crotch in a Los Angeles bar in 2003.

Mexican actor Roberto Cavazos, who acted in several plays at the Old Vic theatre – where Mr Spacey served as artistic director – claims the star “routinely preyed” on young male actors.
