It was widely reported that the as-yet-untitled Disney+ series had been temporarily shelved in January after Hossein Amini quit as the lead writer.
Replacing Amini is Joby Harold, a screenwriter whose credits include the Guy Ritchie film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and the upcoming Zack Snyder project Army of the Dead.
The series is one of several series set in the Star Wars universe that will be released on Disney’s streaming service.
Along with another season of The Mandalorian, which debuted on Disney+ in the US last year, there are plans for a series based around Diego Luna’s Rogue One character Cassian Andor.
McGregor, who will be reprising the role of Obi Wan from George Lucas’ prequel trilogy, had previously downplayed the extent of the production difficulties.
Deborah Chow is still signed on as the show’s sole director, having previously worked behind the camera on one episode of The Mandalorian.
