Most Judge Judy fans wouldn’t dream of ending up in her crosshairs – but one man got a full Judge Judy-style reprimand for not wearing a mask at her hair salon.

The lawyer and former family court judge, whose real name is Judy Sheindlin, related the anecdote in a recent interview with the New York Post.

Her show Judge Judy is currently in its 25th and final season. A successor programme will stream on Amazon’s IMDb TV.

While Sheindlin is mostly known for admonishing those involved in the small-claims disputes featured on her show, she said she recently gave the Judge Judy treatment to a man who wasn’t wearing a face mask despite being at a hair salon during the coronavirus pandemic.

“I walked up to him and he looked at me and smiled,” Sheindlin told the publication.

“I was wearing my mask with my smock on and my hair was dripping wet. I said to him, ‘Do you like ‘Judge Judy’? He said, ‘Oh yes,’ and I said, ‘Not after today,’ and I proceeded to lace into him about respecting other people and how other people are minding you by wearing a mask.”

Sheindlin recounted telling the man: “You must be some kind of narcissist or there’s something that I don’t see that makes you unique and special.”

According to Sheindlin, the man eventually returned and apologised – with a mask on.
