During his last pre-election opening monologue, Colbert decided to implore viewers to go out and vote, yet was interrupted by crying from his audience.
“It’s an adorable little street urchin!” he calls out. “Why are you crying? I ask out of genuine concern, not because it’s a live show and I’m furious.”
A young girl then stands up to sing: “I am just an orphan ragamuffin / I’m cold and have no coat /And when it comes to ballot stuffing / I’m too scared to vote.” Luckily, Colbert is happy to sing his own song.

Colbert: Voting gives a voice, to people one and all
From the richest robber baron, to the lowliest dirtball.
Voting’s done in half a flash, it only takes one wrist flick.
They always make the process speedy.

Colbert then finishes his verse, legs kicking, with the lines “It’s democracy in action / So get out there and vote” to much applause from the audience. However, before being able to round off his monologue, Jon Stewart crashes the stage wearing a red top hat with toffees in his trouser pockets.
Instead of imploring the young girl to go out and vote, Stewart sings his own song attempting to get her not to vote. As has been an ongoing joke whenever Stewart appears alongside Colbert, the ex-late night host has seemingly forgotten who is actually running for President.
When told about Trump, he replies: “Are you serious? That angry tax-and-draft dodging little orange groundhog is running for president?” The pair then urge the young girl to vote for Hillary Clinton, even if she is the worse of two evils. Watch the entire 10-minute segment below.
Perhaps the most damning moment came in the last song in which Stewart sings: “You know he acts real tough but he’s a wussy / Would probably fill the court with Gary Busey / And then he’ll grab your mothers… Kitty cat meow”
Colbert has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump throughout the election process, previously lampooning the Republican’s performance in the third televised debate with Clinton.
