Update: Joe Exotic has not been pardoned by Donald Trump

Joe Exotic is apparently so confident he will get a presidential pardon from Donald Trump that his team claims to have parked a limousine near his prison in preparation for his release.

The Tiger King star is currently serving a 22-year sentence in Fort Worth, Texas, after being convicted in 2019 of trying to hire a hitman to kill his rival Carol Baskin, as well as numerous animal abuse charges. He is hoping to pardoned by Trump on Tuesday (19 January).

President Trump, who has been impeached by the House of Representatives after being accused of inciting the Capitol Hill riots, has just hours left before leaving office, with Joe Biden set to be inaugurated tomorrow (20 January).

“We’re going to be celebrating,” private investigator Eric Love, who is leading Exotic’s case, told Metro.co.uk. “We have good reason to believe it will come through. We’re confident enough we already have a limousine parked about half a mile from the prison. We are really in action mode right now.”

He added: “I’ve got make-up, wardrobe, the whole unit that will come up. The first thing Joe wants to do, he wants his hair done. He hasn’t had his hair done in two-and-a-half years. That’s the first order of business. Then we’ll probably go and get some pizzas, steak, maybe a McRib.”

Love said he believes the outgoing president “has sided with us” and that pardoning Exotic will “take most of the limelight away from president-elect Joe Biden”.

Exotic’s team has already “shot a congratulatory video thanking Donald Trump” in anticipation.

This week, reports emerged that Trump intends to pardon more than 100 people before stepping down, including Paul Manafort, Lil Wayne and Rudy Giuliani.
