From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. James Corden says he and Orlando Bloom urged Ivanka Trump to “do something” about her father and his administration at a recent wedding.

The Late Late Show host was participating in a segment on the series called “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts”, in which he and his celebrity guests choose to either answer personal questions or eat something disgusting, when he made the revelation.

On Wednesday’s episode (30 October), Corden was asked by Terminator: Dark Fate actor Arnold Schwarzenegger: “You recently attended a wedding that was also attended by Ivanka Trump – what did you talk about?”

Corden, who attended the marriage of fashion designer Misha Nonoo and businessman Michael Hess back in September, said: ”Alright, I will say this: I was a little drunk… and I was with Orlando Bloom, who I think was equally, if not slightly less drunk than I was.

“We were stood at the bar… and Ivanka was also at the bar, and I can’t – I can’t 100 per cent remember it, but I remember that we were quite drunk and we started going, ‘Ivanka, you can do something. You can do something. You can make a difference. You can make it better.’”

He added that Ivanka’s replied: “I’m trying, I’m trying.”

Corden said that, when he attended a drinks reception the following day, Ivanka said to him, “I bet you’ve got a headache this morning.”

Schwarzenegger revealed that the last time he spoke to Trump was when he declined the president’s request for endorsement during the election campaign.

In 2017, Trump took exception to Schwarzenegger’s claims that he stepped down as host of Celebrity Apprentice because viewers were switching off due to the president’s involvement.

Schwarzenegger said he would decline an offer to return as host of the long-running NBC competition if he was asked due to Trump’s “baggage”.

Trump hit back that the actor was “fired by his pathetic ratings”.
