From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

“I’m on edge the whole time,” he said in an episode of Complete Load of Podcast titled “Deathtrap Holidays”. “I think I’m gonna break my neck at anytime. It’s a f***ing s**thole, the lot of it. [Cab drivers] are scary, the roads are made out of stones, you’ve got walls that are collapsing... I’m not into it man. Especially when you’ve got two little kids.”
“I don’t wanna talk about politics,” he said, “but there’s a whole Brexit thing going on at the moment, lot of people are upset that we’re leaving the EU. I’m sure there’s more to it, but whenever I go to Spain or Greece or whatever I’m like... let’s just leave this. Look at it. You can’t drink the water, you can’t flush paper down the toilets. What are you doing? Why are we sticking around?”
The actor threw in a disclaimer in which he said he was being “stupid and flippant for the purposes of newspapers watching”.
Buckley and his friend went onto talk about their recent holidays to Sardinia and Greece. In the same podcast, he also said he thought women should stop shaving their body hair because he was sick of his wife moaning about having to shave all the time.
“Nowadays ladies are obsessed with any kind of hair that isn’t on their head, it’s got to go,” he said. “They complain about it as well, it’s just like, I don’t expect you to do that, I don’t make any effort in my appearance.”
He said it was “ironic” that women worry about their experience because “men don’t give a s**t”.
