Update: It's been confirmed that, despite Iron Fist's cancellation, Finn Jones will continue to appear in other Marvel TV shows on Netflix.

Iron Fist has been cancelled by Netflix after just two seasons.

The news was confirmed by both streaming service and Marvel who released a statement saying: “Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners.”

It continued: “We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.”

The series, which starred Finn Jones in the lead role, debuted to middling reviews in 2017.

In response to the news, Jones posted an image of himself on Instagram fit with the caption: “With every end is a new beginning. I have an enormous amount of love and respect for everyone involved with the last two seasons of this show.”

The character also appeared in Marvel TV shows The Defenders as well as Luke Cage season two. Netflix's other superhero series include Daredevil and Jessica Jones which star Charlie Cox and Krysten Ritter, respectively. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed Jones will continue to appear in these.
