From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Kim Kardashian West is defending her family after criticism for failing to greet Caitlyn Jenner after she was voted off I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.

Viewers were left heartbroken after Jenner was left posing for photographs alone at the moment when friends and family usually rush to be reunited with their loved ones.

But, according to Jenner’s son Brandon and stepdaughter Kardashian West, nobody from the ITV series reached out for them to contribute in any way.

Kardashian West wrote on Twitter: “NO ONE from I’m A Celeb even reached out and asked for letters, appearances or anything from any Kardashians or Jenners.”

On Instagram, Brandon suggested it “might have been a ‘storyline’ the producers wanted to fabricate in order to get more empathy for Caitlyn.

“Honestly, nobody reached out to set it up,” he added.

The Independent has contacted ITV for comment.

In her exit interview, Jenner said that she found her experience on the show much harder than when she previously competed on the American version of the series in 2003.

“[I missed my family] terribly,” she said. “It gets very complicated around Christmas time. It’s actually easier being in the jungle.

Following her elimination, Jenner – who has been reunited with daughters Kylie and Kendall back in the US – was joined in Australia by partner Sophia Hutchins.

This year’s series of I’m a Celebrity was won by former EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa. Read our review of the final here.
