From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Some viewers tuning into ITV’s hit reality series are not convinced by the integrity of the shoot location at Gwyrch Castle in Abergele, north Wales, reports The Sun.
A number of viewers aired their suspicions on Twitter, pointing out a few details which they believe to be indicators that audiences are being duped.
One wrote: “Why do footsteps on the 'stone’ floor sound really woody? … almost as if the whole thing is a custom made studio and it’s all fake?”
“I’m sorry but it’s quite obvious most of the ‘camp’ is a fake set. Yes I believe they’re at a castle but they’re basically on an updated set,” another viewer wrote. “Even when they walk it sounds like floating floorboards. All the old looking things are props.”
A third simply stated: “This is a fake castle.” They noted that it was telling that the stars are “wearing t-shirts in a cold draughty castle in Wales in winter!”
The series’ showrunners have previously confirmed that the castle is without heat. In a Twitter post shared last month, it was announced that “I’m a Celebrity have not installed electricity or water".
ITV bosses were forced to reshuffle the series’ original format due to the ongoing pandemic. One of the most major changes was a relocation from its usual Australian outback setting to a decrepit castle in Wales.
I’m a Celeb airs on ITV tonight at 9pm.
