From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

While the contestants are yet to be officially announced by ITV, recent photos and reports seem to reveal the identity of those set to appear.
These celebrities are expected to travel to Wales for the latest edition of the popular reality show, which has relocated from the Australian jungle due to coronavirus. They are currently in quarantine ahead of the new series.
Presented by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, it will take place at Gwyrch Castle.
The latest celebrities to have been named as potential contestants include Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah and EastEnders actor Shane Richie (Alfie Moon).
They are expected to join TV presenter Vernon Kay – who is married to Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly – and broadcaster Victoria Derbyshire.
Coronation Street actor Beverley Callard (Liz McDonald) is also reportedly set to be announced as part of the line-up, alongside tenor Russell Watson and former Strictly professional AJ Pritchard.
Actor Ruthie Henshall, who has starred in several West End shows, was also pictured arriving for what was reported by The Sun to be a photoshoot for the show.
Paralympian Hollie Arnold and former EastEnders star Jessica Plummer (Chantelle Atkins) are said to round out the 10 celebrities joining the series.
ITV told The Independent that all reports are merely “speculation”.
The show’s 19th series, which aired last year, featured contestants including footballer Ian Wright, reality star Caitlyn Jenner, and Good Morning Britain co-presenter Kate Garraway. The series was won by Jacqueline Jossa.
The 20th series of I'm a Celebrity will begin in November.
