Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Rebecca Adlington and Joey Essex are among the ten celebrities who have signed up to publicly humiliate themselves in the name of fame in this year’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

No politician has dared to follow in Nadine Dorries’ footsteps last year, but plenty of soap stars, sporting champions and noughties boy band members have done.

The ten contestants include snooker champion Steve Davis, Westlife member Kian Egan, TOWIE star Joey Essex, EastEnders actress Laila Morse, Emmerdale’s Lucy Pargeter, model Amy Willerton, TV host Matthew Wright, Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington, US sitcom actor Alfonso Ribeiro and Royal fashion designer David Emanuel.

Steve Davis looks to be in for the hardest ride in the Australian jungle, after admitting he “despised self-centred people”.

He will have to stay clear of Miss Universe model Amy Willerton, who said she is looking forward to showing off her frame in a bikini – especially if the papers give her as much coverage as Helen Flannagan’s showers last year.

US sitcom star Alfonso Ribeiro seems to have taken the token “random American celebrity” title, but said he looks forward to hanging out with “naturally wonderful” British people.

However, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air actor has warned there will be no famous Carlton dance until he is voted off.
