From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Chat show host Matthew Wright ended up empty-handed despite forcing down a five-course meal of jungle critters and exotic animals in tonight's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!.

The presenter went head-to-head with reality TV star Joey Essex in the Bush Tucker Trial in confident mood, telling hosts Ant and Dec that he had got over his fears from the last trial and was now "in control".

The pair ate all five dishes, including pig brains, ostrich penis and turkey testicles and ended up with a tie-break won by Joey when he downed his glass of blended cockroaches.

That meant his team dined on wallaby while their opposite numbers had to make do with rice and beans.

Wright told his teammates his trial has been "horrible" and "disgusting", saying: "I started the day hungry and I don't feel hungry any more. I feel sick - sick because of what I have eaten and sick."

The contestants got a bit of a break when the sun came out, giving them a chance to top up their tans with beauty queen Amy Willerton wasting no time in stripping down to her bra to sunbathe.

Last night, viewers saw her and Joey bond in the jungle - as she taught him to tell the time.
