Homer's inevitable ice bucket challenge comes after Kermit the Frog became the first puppet to get involved last week when he was challenged by WWE chairman Vince McMahon.
A lot of celebrities have used the challenge as an opportunity to show off their summer bikini bodies, but Sir Patrick Stewart went for the classy option, simply signing a donation check for ALS before adding ice to a glass of whiskey and taking an insouciant sip.
As irksome as the inescapable challenge may be, it has raised over $88 million (£53 million) for the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
