Fleabag co-stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Andrew Scott and will reunite in series two of His Dark Materials.

The first trailer for the second series of HBO and BBC’s hit show was screened at the beginning of a panel at Comic-Con@Home, the online edition of San Diego Comic-Con, which is currently taking place.

It was revealed that Waller-Bridge will voice the daemon of Scott’s character, Colonel John Parry.

Disclosing the reunion, Scott said his daemon would be played by “someone who is very close to me in my real life: a young performer and writer called Phoebe Waller-Bridge. I don’t know if you’ve heard of her?”

The Sherlock actor added, “I’m really thrilled about that because it’s all about companionship and friendship and loyalty, and that’s what I feel about Phoebe in real life.”

Fans of the duo have suggested that Waller-Bridge’s daemon take the form of a fox – Scott famously portrayed the fox-averse “Hot Priest” in Waller-Bridge’s acclaimed BBC comedy Fleabag.

However, in the books on which the series is based, Parry’s daemon is an osprey named Sayan Kötör.

It has been suggested that the fantasy drama will return to screens in November this year, although no official release date has been announced.

Based on the Philip Pullman fantasy trilogy of the same name, His Dark Materials follows the story of two children – Lyra Belacqua and Will Parry – as they wander through a series of parallel universes.
