From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Hilary Duff has shared a first-look photo from the set of the Lizzie McGuire reboot in New York.

In the revival of the show, which will air on Disney+, Lizzie is a 30-year-old millennial navigating life in Manhattan.

The original series was one of the Disney Channel’s biggest hits and spawned a spin-off movie in 2003.

As with the Noughties show, the reboot will include an animated version of a young Lizzie who gives revealing commentary on what she is really thinking.

Duff shared an Instagram picture of herself on the first day of production, with the caption: “Happy first LIZZIE day!!!!! NYC…..cue the rain.”

Disney+ shared a second photo showing Duff holding a stuffed alpaca.

“Alpaca your bags!” the post was captioned. “Lizzie McGuire, an original series coming soon to #DisneyPlus, is heading to the Big Apple for the next chapter in Lizzie’s story.”

Original cast members Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine and Jake Thomas are reprising their roles as Jo, Sam and Matt McGuire.

Duff is also a series regular on the comedy show Younger, which was recently renewed for a seventh season.
