The Haunting of Bly Manor has left fans shocked and confused after it was discovered that the voice of Peppa Pig plays a creepy character on the show.

On the Netflix horror series, Amelie Bea Smith portrays Flora, a spooky little girl who maintains a dollhouse which appears to have some kind of supernatural link to sinister goings-on at a country estate.

Smith has received praise for her performance, but fans have been surprised by her other high-profile role this year: she is the new voice of famed anthropomorphic piglet Peppa.

“The girl who played flora voiced peppa pig? excuse me i can’t-,” wrote one Twitter user.

“I can’t stop laughing at the fact the little girl who plays flora in Bly Manor voices peppa pig,” wrote another. “Imagine peppa pig just like ‘perfectly splendid’.”

Another wrote: “Me: Why does Flora's voice in Bly Manor seem so eerily familiar? Me: OH MY GOD SHE'S PEPPA PIG.”

Smith assumed the Peppa Pig role after the departure of 18-year-old actor Harley Bird, who announced in January that she was quitting the £1,000-an-hour voiceover role.

It is unknown if Smith is earning the same amount of money for the role, with Bird’s salary probably inflated by her long-running tenure on the series.

Bird played Peppa from the age of five, and gave voice to the character as she became an international sensation and fledgling pop star.

The Haunting of Bly Manor has drawn mixed reviews since it arrived on Netflix last week (9 October), with The Independent calling it “terrifyingly underwhelming”.
