Gogglebox fans have been left surprised by a throwback photo of couple Dave and Shirley Griffiths.

The pair posted the photo on their joint Twitter account, joking that they looked like characters from The Sopranos when they were in their Twenties.

Dave and Shirley, who are in their Sixties, have appeared on the Channel 4 entertainment series since 2015, swiftly becoming beloved by viewers for their witty one-liners.

Their fans praised the photo on social media.

Gogglebox viewers have recently been left entertained by Jenny Newby’s notebook dedicated to Line of Duty.

Each week, Jenny writes down key phrases and character names in the hope that she’ll be able to detect future twists and turns.

Actor Gregory Piper, who plays PC Ryan Pilkington in the BBC drama, was left overjoyed after his character’s name made it into the detective notepad.

“Watching @C4Gogglebox and ‘Pilkington’ making it into Jenny’s notebook has made my day,” Piper wrote.

Gogglebox continues on Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4. Line of Duty airs on Sundays at 9pm on BBC One.
