Good Morning Britain viewers have been applauding a couple who appeared on the show and called out Piers Morgan for constantly interrupting Susanna Reid. Wednesday morning’s episode (23 September) featured grandparents Alun and Elaine Rees, who quite literally broke the internet. For months, the pair were interrupting the internet connection for their entire Welsh village every time they watched GMB on their old television.
Elaine, who crocheted a blanket throughout the live interview, was asked why she loves watching the ITV morning show, to which she replied: “Piers, you make me laugh, but you make me cross.”
When she was asked why, Elaine elaborated: “You won’t let Susanna talk.” The response was met with laughter and a grateful expression from Reid. Later in the programme, Reid thanked Elaine for calling Piers out, and Elaine replied: “Us women have got to stick together.”
Morgan tried to make up for his failings by offering the couple a brand new 65-inch television.
GMB viewers were delighted with the exchange, with one fan tweeting: “Fantastic couple, loved that she was doing her crocheting, reminded me of my dear old Nan. They were fab.”
Another said: “I had such a giggle this morning watching this hilarious couple before the regional news.”
“What a great couple should get them on Gogglebox would be stars,” added a third.
