Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.HBO has officially confirmed that Girls will get a fifth season, with president of programming Michael Lombardo making the announcement at the season 4 premiere of the Lena Dunham comedy in New York.
The network clearly has continuing confidence in Lena Dunham's show, which is to see cameos from director Spike Jonze, Orange Is The New Black's Natasha Lyonne, Community's Gillian Jacobs, Star Trek's Zachary Quinto and many more when it returns on 11 January.
Several of its stars have been in the news lately, with Dunham having released a best-selling and controversial memoir, Alison Williams starring in NBC's Peter Pan musical and Adam Driver taking a lead role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Judd Apatow and Jennifer Konner are expected to return to co-executive produce with Dunham, while Zosia Mamet and Jemima Kirke will surely also be back as Shoshanna and Jessa.
Girls Season 4 arrives on Sky Atlantic on 12 January at 10pm.
