From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It's really, really happening: Gilmore Girls is returning to screens and here's all the proof you need.

Netflix has released the first trailer for its revival of the beloved mother-daughter TV series, this time entitled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Both Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham return as Rory and Lorelai; with the show picking things up ten years down the line, following the original series' finale in which Rory left to cover Barack Obama's presidential campaign for an online publication.

"Did we order Chinese, Greek, and Italian food last night?" Lorelai starts off in the new sneak peak; promising that these gals' appetites haven't changed a bit in the past decade, before laying on their usual feast of cultural nods and references. "But where would Superman change when he comes to save our town from Ben Affleck?" Rory asks in timely fashion.

We're also shown the return of a host of original cast members: including Kelly Bishop, Melissa McCarthy, Scott Patterson, Sean Gunn, Keiko Agena, Jared Padalecki, and Milo Ventimiglia. The trailer was first revealed on the show's official website, which masks itself as a landing page for the town of Stars Hollow, filled with treats for die-hard fans to uncover.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will air in four 90-minute chapters each spanning one season of the year: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. They will be available to stream on Friday, 25 November on Netflix.
