Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Name: Gemma Collins

Age: 33

Occupation: Reality TV star in The Only Way is Essex

Relationship status: Single

Phobias: Claustrophobia and creepy crawlies

Interesting fact: Collins attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School as a child

She says: "Every time I think about going in the jungle, I get very, very nervous. I get stomach cramps, I feel sick. Even talking about it scares me."

Collins is used to being candid on camera but admits that going into the jungle is completely different to what she is used to. "I am going to be petrified!" she says.

She found fame as a car saleswoman on The Only Way is Essex, where she has seen her fair share of ups and downs and failed romances.

She hopes that people will see a different side to her Down Under.

"This is a chance for me to be me. I am not 100 per cent confident and I think sometimes people think of me as a crazy, shouty woman!"

Collins also hopes the sparse diet in the jungle will help her to lose some weight but, overall, she just wants to enjoy herself.

"I want to have fun and I love chatting. I am really looking forward to getting to know my fellow camp mates."

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! starts on Sunday 16 November at 9pm on ITV
