From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

With two more seasons to go, Game of Thrones is gearing to an end - however HBO bosses are clearly attempting to figure out in which way they can continue the property.

Although showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have remained coy on the subject in the past, the premium cable network's CEO Richard Plepner has confirmed that a spin-off looks extremely likely.

He said: "There might be some brand extension that would be exciting. It certainly has not escaped the producers.

"Right now we’re focused on finishing the series with the kind of energy and excitement that everyone has come to expect. We’re going to do that while at the same time parallel processing very embryonic stages of other possibilities."

It would be a missed trick for HBO not to continue the Thrones property considering it's one of the most popular shows currently on TV.

Game of Thrones Season 7 footage features in HBO 2017 trailer

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that the remaining 13 episodes were to be split across two seasons with the next batch of epiodes - season seven - arriving later than usual in the summer of 2017; the swansong of cult series The Leftovers will air in its usual place.

Game of Thrones has been nominated in the Golden Globes 'Best TV Drama' category alongside fellow HBO big-hitter Westworld and Netflix smash hit Stranger Things.
