We might barely be halfway through Game of Thrones season 6, but speculation on season 7 has already begun.

Spain has been the show’s home away from home thus far in the series, and it seems the cast and crew could next be headed to the Canary Islands.

Meridian (via Watchers on the Wall) reports that Fernando Clavijo, president of the government of the Canary Islands, has confirmed to the Canarias Film Commission that Game of Thrones is currently in negotiations with them and looking at potential filming locations.

Location scouts apparently “left delighted with the potential of the Teide National Park,” which is centre around Spain’s tallest mountain.

Will Daenerys be headed there?

 Will Daenerys be headed there?

Meridian suggests that the location is being considered for Daenerys scenes, and its specificity has already got people theorising.

With Dany expected to finally head west next season, will the Canary Islands double for an archipelago she stops at along the way?

Other guesses so far include the Shadow Lands of Asshai, Dorne and the Isle of Faces.

The next episode of season 6 is expected to see a return to another Spanish location, bringing a very exciting plot development.
