From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It’s finally happened; production on season seven of Game of Thrones has begun, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Whereas in years previously production has begun in July, this year things have begun a later than normal due to the arrival of Winter in the show (and therefore the need to film later in colder conditions).
Those who survived season six will be returning, along with new cast member Jim Broadbent, filming in set locations based around Northern Ireland, Spain, and Iceland.
Numerous minor characters are also yet to be cast, the list of which hit the internet last month.
Season seven will be different to previous seasons for a number of reasons, primarily due to its shorter length - running for just seven episodes instead of ten - and later release date.
The list of directors working on season seven has also been revealed, with numerous alumni returning to the show. Meanwhile, cast members Maisie Williams and Kit Harrington have been talking about their characters futures.
